Virtual Forensic Computing
VFC stands for Virtual Forensic Computing. VFC is a virtualisation tool that digital investigators can use to view the contents of devices such as PCs or laptops in the same way the user does. The data copy is started in a virtual environment and shows the screens in a Windows or Apple environment just as the suspect has seen them.
This product makes it possible to virtualise the environment of the suspect and further investigate it before actually copying the data.
The main advantages are:
- From forensic image to a virtual machine in seconds
- VFC restored the suspect’s computer in a virtual environment
- A virtual addition for every forensic investigator
- View the material as it looks on the original machine
- It validates the findings of other forensic solutions
VFC v7 features a streamlined workflow making it simpler to progress from forensic image to virtual machine but still allows the experienced user to perform a detailed exploration of the mounted image. VFC v7 supports non-bootable single-volume images. These are images that contain a complete file system but lack components removed found in a whole disk image. VFC v7 can emulate seamlessly the missing components and allow such images to be converted to a bootable virtual machine.
