Oxygen Forensics and DataExpert invite you to join our Fall 2024 Webinar Series. The webinars are presented by Matt Finnegan, product advocate and Forensics expert at Oxygen Forensics and Yaro Timmerman, Account Manager Digital Forensics at DataExpert.

In this webinar series we provide insight into how various mobile and cloud extractions work and what you can achieve with these extractions. We’ll show you how to use Oxygen Forensic® Detective and its Keyscout component. The last edition in the series is a practitioner’s view on Oxygen Forensic® Detective, its features and its functionality. Each webinar takes 1 hour and will be given twice.

There are 2 main types of webinars in this series, the aim of each is to provide prospective and current users with useful information about:

• Agnostic, underlying theory in specific areas of digital forensics to provide an insight into how Oxygen Forensic® Detective achieves certain outcomes, for example in extracting data from certain device types.  Having a deeper understanding is essential to understanding what is possible to achieve or not, and how to troubleshoot processes when problems arise more effectively.
• Oxygen Forensic® Detective specific features and how to get the most out of the tool.

Webinar 1. Unisoc & MediaTek Extraction Methods & Underling Theory

30th September – 10 am CET & 7^th October – 10 am CET 

Unisoc (previously Spreadtrum) devices have become increasingly prevalent in the past few years. Whereas MediaTek was undisputedly the most common chipset in lower-end Android devices, OEMs are increasingly choosing Unisoc instead (including large OEMs such as Samsung, Nokia, and Motorola). Of the lower-end Android devices available, 50% are now Unisoc-powered devices.

Examiners often struggle with tool support for these devices, especially when they are locked, and they can present a significant challenge for forensic investigations. Oxygen recently introduced full file system support and brute-force capabilities for three of the most popular Unisoc chipsets, with plans for further development.

MediaTek chipsets are extremely prevalent in budget Android devices and feature phones, powering around 50% of these lower-end devices.

Oxygen Forensic® Detective has staunch support for these devices and often the examiner does not need to know too much of the underlying theory to get a successful extraction.

The aim of this session however is to delve deeper and understand some of the underlying theory and processes that apply to acquiring these types of devices, which will allow for a better understanding of the overall process and improved troubleshooting when things do not work.

Webinar 2. Introduction to Oxygen Forensics Keyscout

9^th October – 10 am CET 

Keyscout is a powerful but often underutilized component of the Oxygen Forensic® Detective software.

Having started life as a tool for extraction of credentials from computers to enable cloud extractions; it has grown and evolved significantly and now offers selective data extraction and parsing across a range of computer forensic artefacts from Windows, MacOS and Linux systems.

We will show you the key features of Keyscout and how you can apply it in your work.

Webinar 3. Oxygen Forensic Detective from a Practitioner’s View

21^st October – 10 am CET & 29^th October – 2 pm CET 

This webinar provides a practitioner's view on Oxygen Forensic® Detective (OFD) for those in the digital forensics field. As a practitioner, our presenter Matt used a range of forensic tools and appreciates this is, and always will be, a 'toolbox industry'. The aim is to describe those scenarios where the functionality and features of Detective made it a particularly attractive option for those investigations, both from an extraction and analysis standpoint.

Matt - has worked in digital forensics, and wider ‘cyber’ as a practitioner for over a decade whilst working for the UK military, government agencies and supported UK counter-terrorism policing units in an expeditionary role, before joining Oxygen Forensics in Jan 2023.  He enjoys all aspects of digital forensics and has a keen interest in reverse engineering and Android internals as well. Matt is now a Product Advocate and supports Oxygen Forensics with all the technical aspects during engagements with our customers/prospects in EMEA.
